As we slip into the end of year mode and prepare for the year ahead it is a good time to reflect on that which was during 2016 whilst at the same time also consider that which could have been during the year.

The year gone has seen huge and unexpected changes occurring globally. Things aren’t the same today as they were yesterday or last year. While some people have gone into reset mode in the face of these changes others have reinvented themselves and kicked butt making massive shifts both personally and professionally.

While increasing your services and getting better results is great for yourself, your business and your bank balance the trail of benefit that this leaves on people’s lives is truly immeasurable. Only time will tell the significance of you being true to your in8 truth and expressing it to the world with excellence.

On the flip side it is true for me and I am sure, probably true for you too that there are areas of your life that over the past year you know that you could have done better.

Many occasions would have occurred where you were not totally on your game during the year. It may have been a lost opportunity to assist another person, it may have been a word of wisdom from you that a person didn’t get because you were unfocussed or tied up in your own ‘stuff’ at the time, it may have been an opportunity to give back to the world that you didn’t take, or it may have been the e-mail or letter or conversation in defence of your philosophical position that you didn’t enrol in.

In short, you most likely, in 2016 will have caused many people to not receive the most from your care, your wisdom and your insights.

What more (or less) could you have done this year to have given more, served more and got even more profound results with this gifts that you have?

The week of Christmas is a reminder for us to think of others, to give from our own abundance. It is not about the gifts, it is about the thoughts and the intent that goes behind the gift that makes the WOW factor.

The same could be said that the key ingredient that determines accomplishment in any endeavour in life is the passionate opening of the heart. It isn’t a lack of knowledge, resources or skills that makes us achieve less than optimal. Of course these are necessary but they are limited in their ability to accomplish great outcomes without the spark that fuels them.

The real decider in a life of results is the heart connection. As we define in Quadrant 1 of the in8model® it is the passion that comes from connecting with your heart, knowing your reason for doing what you do along with your willingness to fire your package into action that get results.

So, looking towards next year how would it be for you to up the legacy that you leave? To be totally on you game every moment of every day? You eagerly grasp the opportunities to give another person access to 100% of your attention, you are free of your own ‘stuff’ and every moment is totally in the present, you relish in the numerous opportunities for appreciation and gratitude and you are proactive in e-mailing, writing or conversations that need to be conducted when political pressure comes to bear.

As you celebrate the essence of giving this week and prepare for that transition to a new year next week consider what it takes for you to leave a Merry Legacy that you are proud of.

Best,

Mark
