I want to touch on the topic of change and thought that the subject of transformation was worthy of consideration.

When we consider the dictionary definition of transformation we find words like – change in form, appearance, nature or character. The operative word here is change. Transformation is the process of change across form – or from one form to another.

The in8model is a model of how it is that we transform. For anything new to come into being, we must entertain the possibilities of the future. We do this with our Quadrant 1 part. We can’t transform when we are immersed in the past.

What you experienced yesterday is gone because the world changes every day. People change. Weather changes. Relationships change. Prices change. Emotions change. Circumstances change. Your perceptions change. Everything changes.

Everything is changing, is in motion and transforms every second. This is important because this is the only way growth and breakthroughs can really happen.

When you ask yourself the question – is change desirable or, in fact inevitable? I’m sure you will say, yes. And yet when asked do you find change easy the answer will probably a little different.

Why is it that most of us at some level hate change? We cling on to what we know. We hold to our past hoping that it can somehow form our future.

We have two choices when it comes to transformation – either move forward and engage it (no matter how terrifying this may be) or resist it, be caught on your back foot and be left behind.

Consider the process of transformation that occurs with the emergence of a beautiful butterfly coming out of a syrupy chrysalis. This is the transformative process that began as a little caterpillar. Each step of this transformation in nature requires a leap of faith and total commitment as the old gives way to the new and exits in a new form – so it is in your life.

You are constantly changing – every breath – every thought is a unique phenomena and a new moment that brings with it new energy, insights, awareness, possibility and aliveness. Your Quadrant 1 part is waiting there, impatiently licking its lips, eager to get into the future possibilities that will emerge as a result of you hitting the Q1 ‘go button’. You don’t have to wait until New Year’s Eve to release the power of your Quadrant 1. You can do it at any time.

Worthy of note here is that if you are in a stressed state and doing the dreaded devolve downward spiral you will not permit your Q1 to ‘play’ and instead bring about consolidation, compaction, rigidity, inflexibility and deathliness.
So, I ask you. What areas of your life do you think that you are on the verge of or in the process of transformation and which areas are you resisting transformation?

What changes do you know have your name on them?

What conversations do you know you need to have with someone?

What areas are calling out to you?

Are there people who need to be called into line around their agreements with you?

Are there constant thoughts that stop you from changing or releasing yourself to more expansive thinking?

Consider these questions and commit to engaging with them this week and ask yourself why not change?
